Declared geometry

The calculation uses the two intersections between the blade circumference and the workpiece surfaces. Projection Ü determines the actual position of the blade centre relative to the material.

Kinematic parameters

When rotational speed and feed rate are provided, vc = πDn/60,000 and fz = 1,000vf/(nZ) are also calculated. These values can be compared with the blade, machine and material documentation.

Scope of validity

Valid for 90° cutting of panels and solid workpieces with a continuous cutting path. Bevel cuts and special geometries require a dedicated calculation.

How to interpret it correctly

The number of teeth in the cut does not by itself determine whether a blade is suitable. For crosscutting and panels, approximately 3–4 engaged teeth is a common manufacturer starting guideline; it does not automatically apply to ripping, where chip clearance is the main concern. Always make the final check against the specifications of the blade family and machine.
